This series of photographs was taken on Kangaroo Island, off the south coast of Australia, a place where daily routines and untamed nature exist side by side. At the heart of the series is the Pelican Man, captured during his midday ritual of feeding the pelicans, an event that takes place every day around noon. The images show an interaction between human and birds, frantically trying to get a free meal, shaped by familiarity and an odd kind of trust (and strong protective gloves).

Beyond this moment, the series expands to other parts of the island. Seals resting along the shoreline (with the occasional fight over the best place to lie on the beach), rugged rock formations, and wide seascapes reveal the raw character of Kangaroo Island, including the so called “Remarkable Rocks”. These massive, weathered granite boulders sit atop a granite dome, sculpted by wind, sea spray, and rain over millions of years, covered in golden-orange lichen. Wind, water, and stone dominate these scenes, emphasizing the island’s sense of isolation and resilience.
